Hockey Festival

Mon 10 Nov, 2008

Due to the wet weather the tournament was staged indoors which enable the Festival to  go ahead as planned. The girls were ready and raring to go, playing a total of 14 short matches against other schools from the local area. The girls were mixed up throughout the event and played a minimum of 3 matches each.

From the outset, the girls were fired up and ready to go. With only a few lessons of Hockey, some were feeling a little less confident than others! But as soon as the whistle went, they showed no sign of this apprehension. They all battled hard throughout the day, making exceptional tackles and moving the ball well between their teams. On many occasions the girls had close attempts at goal, but were denied by a great last minute stop on the goal line! They persisted well and fought hard, showing just how gutsy they were all prepared to be. The ball moved very quickly on the smooth surface, which meant that the girls had to utilise their speed over both short and long distances. They did this exceptionally well! The girls were outstanding on the day, in their first ever hockey fixture.. With such a talented year group, it will be exciting to follow their progress closely over the next few years to see just how good they can be. Well done all!

Final Results were as follows: Won 2 Drew 10 Lost 2  Thank you again to all the parents who came to support, it was lovely to see so many of you there supporting! We very much look forward to our next Hockey encounter soon!
