Welcome to the Royal High School, Bath

Our Buildings

The Royal High Junior School enjoys a stunning position on the north side of the lovely city of Bath. Set in glorious grounds with views across the Georgian landscape, the Junior School’s three buildings are surrounded with fabulous gardens and wonderful play areas. The girls play hopscotch or can invent their own games in the playground, enjoy games of tennis on one of the three courts or make dens in the gardens into space rockets!

All classrooms from Reception to Year 6 are fitted with interactive whiteboards. In one of our buildings, ‘Gloucester’, the girls in our Nursery and Reception enjoy using the garden rooms and upstairs we have a multi-purpose hall with a sprung floor used for gymnastics/dance, a super stage for our drama productions and fun events with lots of people, as well as a dining area. Our Dance Studio and Drama room also offer excellent opportunities for the girls to develop their creative skills.

Our largest building is called Anderson, named after Dame Kitty Anderson. Years 1,2,3 and 4 have their spacious classrooms here, along with our After School Care room, Infant Library, Art/Design studio, superbly equipped science laboratory and a suite of music rooms for class and individual teaching.

Hope House is our oldest and most gracious building; all the girls whatever their age know this building is special with an elegance all of its own. Our Year 5 and 6 form rooms are based here and the children love being in these classrooms which are modern yet steeped in history. They also love going to our computerised library to choose their latest good read from the well-stocked selection. Upstairs all girls from Reception – Year 6 use our ICT suite equipped with 24 computers and an interactive board and projector. The additional ICT annexe room allows our oldest pupils to use computers to work independently. Our oldest pupils use the Drama and Video room on the top floor.
