Welcome to The Royal High Nursery School, Bath

Our Curriculum

Our teaching is based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.  This recognises that children develop and learn in their own ways and at different rates.  Every session is carefully planned to meet the individual needs of the young learners in our care.  We take account of each child’s levels of confidence and independence, working with them individually and in small groups as appropriate. Where your daughter has strengths we will extend them.  If she finds other areas more challenging we will give her the support she requires. We will help her to progress as far as she can in her learning.

Every week there are whole class lessons in ballet, French, music and gymnastics.  These lessons are taught by specialists. A weekly cookery session gives even our youngest children a ‘hands on’ opportunity to develop their practical skills and samples are taken home to share!  In the summer term we have a Nursery School trip to a local area of interest such as a farm.

The close links we have with our Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form College benefit our Nursery School in a number of ways. Our Year 6 Junior Prefects provide excellent role models during their daily visits to the Nursery School.  We are also assisted at lunchtimes by Australian and New Zealand GAP students who are resident members of the Senior School staff.  The children attend weekly assemblies and termly drama productions with the rest of the Junior School and participate in whole school charity events throughout the year. We are currently sponsoring a little girl, Elizabeth, to enable her to be educated at The Crane Academy in Kenya, a school for which the Royal High School has established a trust fund.
